Ok, so everybody knows of the WWE Smackdown franchise with their games, but coming out this spring is TNA's first game ever, and it looks to try to surpass the Smackdown games with their graphics and having some of the TNA wrestlers being consultants into how the game should be. So what are some of your thoughts, do you think that it could be better, it's said to have the feel of the WWE No Mercy game.

I say that it could end up being better than the Smackdown! games but i think that if they do then WWE will come out with something to try and beat it. I think the best wrestling games ever though were the old WWF games for the N64, man those were some great games back in the day. It would be very interesting to try out this new TNA game when it comes out though.

I'm looking forward to it coming out to see if it plays as good as they say it does, that and plus it seems like in the last installment in the smackdown franchise wasn't to good when it came to the season mode, and I really like to see what going to be different in the TNA game.

Does anyone know if this will be coming out for the Playstation 2 or is it just a next-gen game? I hope it comes out for the Playstation 2 because if it does, I'll be sure to pick it up for the last few Smackdown! vs. Raw installments have failed my expectations. I still think Shut Your Mouth and Here Comes the Pain were the two best SmackDown! games for the Playstation 2. Right behind them comes SmackDown! 2 for the original Playstation. Which isn't saying much for the most recent World Wrestling Entertainment installments.
I'm not really a fan of TNA, but if they have the right things that should draw a person into a game, I'll definately pick it up.

It's only coming out for the new systems which sucks, I want to play the game but I don't know how it is going to play just yet.

I think it's going to be tough to top the SmackDown series, but TNA will be good.

I've only seen a few pics of this game, hopefully the controls will be good. IMO controls make or break wrestling games, for example
No Mercy 64 - Best controls ever
ECW 64 - Worst controls ever

Well, the smackdown! games have gone stale, so anything different and new is welcome.

"TNA's video game will have a brand new feature never before seen in a wrestling game. Players will be able to use an in game tool to create their own entrance theme for their created wrestlers". I came across this and thought that this defintely makes this game more unique and has given me an even more general interest in wanting to play this game.
quote is from thewrestlinganswer.com, I haven't came across this anywhere else, so I'm kind of iffy if this is gonna happen or not, but I hope that it does.

I think it could be better than Smackdown vs RAW 2008 but SVR 2009 is probably going to beat it so badly.

Platforms that TNA iMPACT will be on PS2, PS3, 360, and Wii.

This game is still highly debatable in my mind. I'll probably what I've been doing with the SDVR games since around 2007 hit and just rent it. If I like it, I'll buy it. If not, you get the picture.
One thing I am hoping for this game is that it's similar to how WWF No Mercy 64 was. The game was golden. If it's like any of the old WCW games especially Thunder. It'll be a waste of time and money.

I was waiting for this game since last year and I can't wait to play it because I am a TNA fan and their wrestling show rocks. This game is also the first TNA game.

Well I don't know becuase no mercy was one of my favorite games, but the videos I have seen for TNA Impact look kind of like the legond of wrestling games that really sucked.

I think this game will be good but it most likely will not do better than SvR, at least not this year. The reason for this is only b/c this is the first game. In sales it cannot win because the WWE is wrestling's standard while TNA is getting there, but still I will buy this game and finally play as A.J. Styles.

I have to disagree that the only reason is because its the first game. The game is being made by Midway who are not very highly regarded when it comes to sports or fighting games. The sound effects are poor and the game unfortunately will be more arcadey than realistic. Finally, the roster is comprised of all but 20 wrestlers which is unacceptable. Late additions to TNA like Booker T are in the game but main staples like the Dudley Boyz aren't. I want the game to be good but I doubt it especially the PS2 version which is the version I would get should I buy it as I don't want next gen system.

I agree with you on the roster of 20 that would get pretty boring fast, but I'm the kind of wreslting fan where you give me a game and I'll play it until I can't stand it or the next version comes out.

TNA: Impact has been confirmed to appear on the PS2. I believe it will contain most of the features on the next gen versions but can't really provide any specifics as they tend to ignore the PS2 when it comes to this information now.

I also have saw some pictures of the game and it looks quite nice. WWE better make Smackdown vs Raw 2009 very nice just like SD! Here Comes The Pain. If not, I think TNA maybe will top all wrestling games. (If the TNA game is nice.)

TNA has a long way to go before they even come close to toppling the SmackDown! vs. Raw series. Though I must agree with you that Here Comes The Pain was one of the better versions. Right behind Shut Your Mouth.

So is anyone gonna even buy the game because as of today it's out in stores. I think I might get it because it might be a good change from Smackdown vs. Raw. But when 2009 comes out I will get that too, but I think the Ultimate X match will be interesting to play.

I've been watching some clips of it, and looking up some information on the game. It doesn't look half bad! It may top SmackDown vs RAW 2008. Because lets face facts that game was bloody horrible. I noticed there isn't going to be a Six Sides of Steel match in it. Which doesn't effect me at all! I'm not the best at cage matches, and not really fond of them in general. Well besides Hell in a Cell, and sometimes Elimination Chamber (if it counts). The roster might not have the biggest selection. But some of the names I haven't played on a game in years, as well as some of the names from ROH (Joe, MCMG, etc).
But still either way to WWE and TNA games. Nothing in my opinion can top Shut Your Mouth. Truly that was the best game WWE produced since No Mercy for the 64.

I heard Raven was supposed to be in it but then he was taken out. I guess it's because he is no longer wrestling for TNA. But what about Rhyno he isn't wrestling for TNA anymore either but I saw him in the game more recently?

I'll have to do some more research to see if I even want this game. I mean ever since I got "Legends of WrestleMania" I usually look to see what the roster brings to the game and how the controls handle, unless it is in the Smackdown! vs. Raw franchise. Although that franchise has even disappointed me recently.
As Otaku said though nothing can top Shut Your Mouth, still my favorite game of all time. The least favorite would have to be Just Bring It! Talk about a waste of $20. I'd even rank it behind WCW Monday Nitro for the original Playstation, which has a horrible control scheme.

It might be a good change if maybe you're getting bored of the Smackdown! Vs. Raw games. To be able to play in different matches and as different Superstars. Its coming out for like all the video games systems from what I remember it comes out for the PS2, PS3, Wii, and X-Box 360. I think thats right I'm unsure.

I was at my local videogame store when I noticed that TNA Impact was out. I of course only have a PS2 so was looking at the PS2 but with the publisher being Midway I decided against buying it. It appears I made a good decision. Reviews are not favorable for the 360 and PS3 versions and in the PS2 review its states how the PS2 version is a very stripped down version that feels like an afterthought. No create a wrestler, framrate and clipping issues, repetitive movers and worst of all wrestlers don't sell any moves or stay down long enough. I guess Hulk Hogan was the lead programmer! When the price drops to $20 or so I'll probably pick it up but for now I'm content to pop in WCW/NWO Revenge on my n64.

I've been reading reviews for this game for the PS2 all day now. So far it's been really rare to find anything good about the game. But you can't always trust critic decisions. So it may be worth renting. I won't waste 40 USD on it. But if it comes down to 20 USD, and some reviews begin to improve then I'll check it out.

Just Bring It could of been excellent. It was rather interactive, and had some moments. But overall the game wasn't worth the 20 bucks to buy it. Even though I enjoyed un-locking I believe Rhyno and the Hardcore Championship on season mode. That wasn't bad!
I'm curious if anybody played that Showdown: Legends of Wrestling game that was made a few years back. The roster doesn't look to bad, and I've been thinking of picking it up.

Stay far far away from Showdown: Legends of Wrestling. When the game came out, I couldn't wait to play it. The roster is the greatest roster you'll ever find in a wrestling game and you can create great CAW. I created Ric Flair complete with robe and they even announced his name properly. Moves are also performed by using a direction and a face button similar to the smackdown instead of Acclaim's old button combo system. But this is where the praise ends unfortunately because the game is simply not fun to play. Graphics look good at first until you actually start moving and wrestling. There is severe collision detection issues leading to numerous phantom hits. The game is also very unbalanced. You have a health meter and every so often a player becomes stunned. I would suplex, slam and knock down an opponent repeatedly and they would keep popping back up. During this beating they would get in one weak strike resulting in me standing or on the ground dazed for extended period of times.
Tag team is unplayable. The cpu constantly calls their opponent for illegal interference every 30 seconds it seems so the only way I could ever win was to clothesline my opponent over the rope so he would become dazed and get counted out. If you play eight man tag team, the frame rate disappears as well. In royal rumble, the frame-rate is also atrocious and as soon as your eliminated the match ends instead of you controlling someone new.
Career mode is basically about 8-12 matches or so and that's it. Legends of Wrestling II's unique territorial career mode which mimics eighties wrestling has been removed. Showdown is a game I hated more and more the longer I played it. Its a shame such an amazing roster has gone to waste. If you must have your classic roster, get the slightly better (though not saying much) Legends of Wrestling II.
Don't say I didn't warn you.

I guess they tried there best for there first game. Maybe they will do a better job when and if they release a 2nd game. But I guess when Smackdown! Vs. Raw 2009 comes out its gonna blow TNA Impact out of the water.
