Full Version: Help Name That Show
The Elysian Knight
So, is anyone else like me? Had that show you always watched when you were little, but you were just too young to bother keeping track of it? Stopped thinking about it and suddenly remembered vague scenes? Being driven crazy by that nagging feeling yet? I know I was. Just cause you loved it when you were young doesnt mean you'll remember it 10 years later. Fortunately, there are loads of us here that all grew up in the same time frame, so I thought that if there was something (like a tv show) you wanted to remember but couldnt, you could just ask the other members.

The one I'm thinking of is weird. There were 3 main characters, puppets, and I dont remember if they were 3 cats, 3 dogs, or a mix of both. Anyway, they lived in an old house, and in the back yard there was this huge tree. I think there may have been a magpie or a racoon living in it. It was a really good show when I was little, and was hoping some of you might be able to shed some light on it smile.gif

And I'll save you some time, it's not Under The Umbrella Tree!

Was it Lambchop?
The Elysian Knight
No, I dont think there were any people in it at all, and if there were a couple I dont think they had a big role.

Besides, I dont think I could ever forget Lambchop laugh.gif
Pumjetsu
Hmm, I'm stumped. The only puppet show that comes to mind is that one where they were in a little trainset or something, like a little town I think, and outside was the real world, I think with people.
The Elysian Knight
That sounds like Mr. Rogers Neighbourhood, lol.

Which I only remembe because of the scene in Family Guy where Stewie killed all the puppets and then Mr. Rogers himself.

But seriously, Mr. Rogers creeped me out.

Here's a little fact I know about Mr. Rogers. The reason he'd always wear long sweaters is due to the fact his arms were full of tattoo's. That struck me as odd when I found that out a few years ago because he doesn't seem like a tattoo-type of man.

Wow, everytime I remember little unknown facts like that I wish I could do the same for school subjects. Oh well, Mr. Rogers must be more cooler (not the kinds you take on a picnic.) =P
Pumjetsu
No, it wasn't Mr Rogers, I remember that, and it was totally different.
Fullmetal
I know the show you are talking about but sadly no name is coming to mind and on Mr. Rogers, that tattoo were from when he was in the navy and the reason he did the show is that he was a minister and that was how he speaded the word of God instead of using a church.
The Elysian Knight
Are you thinking of Thomas the Tank Engine, or it's spinoff Shining Time Station?
Pumjetsu
It might be the spinoff one.
The Elysian Knight
STS was a pretty good show, as I recall. I believe Ringo Starr played Mr. Conductor in the first season, and was awesome in the roll.
Pumjetsu
Yep, that was the one, I looked it up on Wikipedia yesterday. Haha.

I can't help you Knight and this might not be a justified bump but I really want to set clear some facts about Mr. Rogers.

He never served in the military, he never was a child molester and he never had tattoos on his arms. There are multiple episodes where he rolls the sleeves up and shows his arms. He had multiple moments of sheer badassery though. He single handedly got Public TV funding with this awesome speech:

He truly was one of the most kindhearted and caring human beings in the history of the nation, and I standby the fact that if there is a heaven he will be the first person I try to meet.
The Elysian Knight
While I never watched Mr. Rogers as a kid, I definitely recognize what a high quality entertainer he was. It's definitely worth a post to dispel some of those blatantly untrue urban legends about the guy.

Now, I don't know if you Americans knew him, but I always thought there was something up with Mr. Dressup. Changing cast of young kids? Pretending? A tickletrunk?

One of the most famous Canadian icons of the 20th century he may have been, but the circumstantial evidence is damning.
TheRodfather
I have never seen the show, and tickletrunk sure does sound naughty.

I remember there used to be rumors that Mr. Rogers had tried to sue Mr. Dressup for copyright. That is far from the truth. Ernie Coombs (Mr. Dressup) was actually an understudy for Mr. Rogers in the early 60's when The Neighborhood was just starting. When Coombs started his own show, he had Mr. Rogers blessing.

I would really recommend watching the speech I shared up there. Rogers managed to give John Pastore, one of America's most ruthless senators, goosebumps. The man was magical.
